A New Braunfels roadway study calculates higher maximum impact fees in all six service areas, giving the city new ceilings as it decides what new development should pay toward future road projects.
The one-time charges can help fund eligible construction, signals, bridges, sidewalks, engineering and land acquisition. They cannot pay for maintenance, operations or upgrades serving existing development, according to the city’s study materials.
The sharpest change appears in Service Area 2, where the calculated maximum rises from $319 to $1,590 per vehicle-mile. Service Area 4 carries the highest proposed ceiling at $3,377, up from $2,349 in the 2020 study.
Six Areas, Six Higher Maximums
The other calculated maximums are $1,549 in Service Area 1, $1,156 in Area 3, $1,550 in Area 5 and $1,828 in Area 6. The study divides the city limits into six service areas and uses projected growth from 2026 through 2036 to estimate demand and eligible infrastructure costs.
