The requests concentrated 67% of General Fund spending across corrections, public safety and the justice system, while also proposing voting-system, road-equipment and county-technology purchases. Those competing requests touched services residents encounter through elections, courts, law enforcement, roads, parks and recycling.
The presentation framed the exercise as a comparison between the requested 2022 budget and the approved 2021 budget, but the minutes do not reproduce the approved 2021 total. The meeting notice scheduled only discussion of the 2022 requests, making the session a request-stage workshop rather than a final budget action.
Positions, vehicles and equipment drove the requests
The budget highlights listed 32 requested full-time positions at an estimated cost of $2.3 million and almost $10 million in capital items. The General Fund requests included 32 vehicles, while Road and Bridge sought eight replacement vehicles and 11 pieces of replacement heavy equipment.
