A Chipotle proposal at 2556 Loop 337 now has a 2,385-square-foot building scope, a $750,000 Estimated Cost field and two active records: state registration and a New Braunfels application still IN REVIEW.

The state page lists May 25, 2027 as Start Date and Sept. 21, 2027 as Completion Date, but the service format, construction start and customer opening date remain unresolved.

The project team is already named

TABS2026026024 was registered July 23 as “Chipotle Mexican Grill - Unicorn Country” and still displayed Project Registered when checked directly Aug. 28. The filing names Veramendi PE-Cairns as owner, Chipotle Mexican Grill as tenant and Red Architecture as designer. Those entries identify a concrete development team without turning an early record into a completed approval.

The missing detail is the lane

The official scope says “New restaurant building and interior.” It does not mention a drive-through, pickup lane, patio, access point or site work. Because Chipotle operates more than one service format, the brand name alone cannot establish a Chipotlane here. That answer needs a site plan, city permit document or company confirmation.

Chipotle's state record shows $750,000 in Estimated Cost, May 25 in Start Date and Sept. 21 in Completion Date; none of the reviewed records states a customer opening date. The completion field cannot answer the story's central service-format or opening questions.

TDLR registration and New Braunfels building review are parallel early steps, not a single approval. The state record is at the beginning of TDLR's registration, plan-review and inspection sequence. Locally, Curtis Shaner filed CP2026-615 on July 24 as a Commercial - New Build application under the same Unicorn Country project name; the latest city snapshot showed IN REVIEW with an Aug. 24 status date.

The public can now place the proposal at a street address and name its footprint, basic building scope, Estimated Cost value, owner, tenant and designer. The evidence set still has no issued city permit, posted construction start, service-format plan or customer opening target.

The next revealing record will be a status or document change for CP2026-615, a later state review entry or a Chipotle announcement that settles construction and opening timing. Until then, this is a registered restaurant proposal with an active city review—and an unanswered question about how customers would use the site.
