New Braunfels ISD may use unspent 2021 bond money to reimburse its general fund for costs paid on behalf of the district’s 2018 bond program, according to the agenda for Monday’s trustee meeting.

The proposal appears as a discussion item, not an action item. The public agenda page lists a proposed resolution and supporting attachments, but its extracted text does not state how much money could be reimbursed, which 2018 projects generated the costs or how much would remain in the 2021 bond program.

That leaves the central financial question unanswered before the meeting: the district has identified the source and destination of the proposed reimbursement, but not its size. Trustees are scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. Aug. 10 in the NBISD Administration Center Boardroom.

High School Contracts Could Draw Action

The board’s closed-session agenda includes consultation with legal counsel about the status of and contracts for Phase I and Phase II of the New Braunfels High School projects. Trustees could return to open session and take action on those contracts or their status.

The agenda does not identify a proposed contract change, company, price or recommended action for the high school item. Listing possible action authorizes trustees to act after the closed consultation; it does not establish that a contract will be changed.

A separate action item asks trustees to approve an Option 3 agreement for the purchase of attendance credit and delegate contractual authority to the superintendent. The agenda text does not provide the proposed purchase amount or agreement terms.

Another Facility Decision

Trustees will also consider an HVAC replacement at the former Disciplinary Alternative Education Program facility, which the agenda says will now serve as the district’s Planning and Construction Department. The public agenda text names the work but does not disclose its proposed price or contractor.

The meeting also includes the previously reported construction item tied to a Long Creek High School traffic-impact analysis and a Zipp Road sidewalk. The next records needed to settle Monday’s other questions are the board’s vote record, any approved resolutions or agreements, and the final contract documents released after the meeting.
