Garden Ridge City Council voted 4-0 on May 5 to replace Ordinance No. 7 with Ordinance No. 7-052026, adopting subdivision rules for land inside the city and its extraterritorial jurisdiction.
Property owners and developers seeking plats, replats, land divisions or unapproved subdivision construction in Garden Ridge or its extraterritorial jurisdiction must meet the ordinance’s planning and infrastructure standards before city approval.
The adopted ordinance repeals the prior Ordinance No. 7 but preserves rights and liabilities tied to pending permits, violations and litigation that arose under the earlier rules. That savings clause separates existing cases from subdivision work submitted under the replacement ordinance.
The ordinance says it took effect after final passage and council approval, with any publication required by law.
What the New Rules Cover
The council packet describes the replacement as a comprehensive framework for plats, replats and other land divisions. Its table of contents identifies standards for public facilities, proportional infrastructure contributions, vested rights, unauthorized subdivisions, development procedures and public-works specifications.
The Planning and Zoning Commission considered the regulations Feb. 11 and April 8 before recommending approval. Councilmember Jim Mueller moved to accept that recommendation, Councilmember Brian Reyes seconded it, and all four council members present supported the ordinance, according to the final minutes.
