Fair Oaks Ranch has penciled in $200,000 to update the long-range plan that guides where the city grows and how it approaches roads, drainage, utilities and public facilities.
The work would revisit future land use, transportation, water and wastewater, environmental protection, parks and capital projects. Those choices can shape later zoning decisions and where the city directs infrastructure spending.
The money remains part of the preliminary fiscal 2026-27 budget. Planning staff will present the proposed scope during an Aug. 13 Planning and Zoning Commission workshop, so no consultant contract or final plan has been approved.
An 11- to 16-Month Process
The city adopted its current comprehensive plan in 2018 after an 18-month process that included town halls, a community survey, a design workshop and stakeholder meetings. Staff said plans are generally updated every five to 10 years, with regional growth and changes in land-use law among the reasons to revisit them.
