Intersection recommendations differ

At Barton Hill Drive and Casey Road, the study says limited sight distance satisfies warrants for minor-road stop control and all-way stop control. The existing intersection has yield control on the Barton Hill Drive approach while traffic on Casey Road flows freely. The report evaluates both stop-control options and says each would produce acceptable delay and minimal queues.

The conclusion is different at Casey Road and Monica View. The study says warrants for an all-way stop were not met based on crash experience, sight distance or peak-hour traffic volumes. Because portions of the studied intersections involve county-maintained approaches, the report says some changes would require coordination and approval from Comal County.

On Brand Road between Shepherds Ranch and Earle Oak Avenue, the consultant reports that it did not observe speeding and recommends refreshing the existing yellow double centerline. The packet also evaluates signage, speed and intersection conditions on Marvel, Vuitton and other locations.

The agenda does not promise that council will adopt every recommendation Tuesday. It lists the study for presentation, discussion and possible action, leaving the final scope and timing dependent on council direction and, where applicable, county coordination.
